Tip

Speaking to your toddler in simple sentences is a

great  great way to model appropriate

sentence structure for labeling familiar

objects, making requests, and describing

 people/objects within their environment!

Stuttering

Some speaking situations cause stuttering to increase more than others.  Talking on the phone, speaking to an authority figure, meeting new people, speaking to larger audiences are considered in some cases as  dysfluency inducing situations.

About Us

Divine Speech/Language Services, LLC. was conceived in the late 1990’s by owner and founder Chelse Moore, a native of Atlanta.  While obtaining both a Bachelors and Masters in Education at the University of Georgia, Chelse envisioned a practice that would allow parents and therapists to work together so that each child would reach their full and maximum potential.   Ultimately, the primary goal and key to each and every individual accomplishment is the setting the child up for success at his own level. “We have to determine, with the parents, what the most realistic individual goal is for each and every child. This fosters a plan of care that is truly individualized for the child and family members.”

Often times we assume that everyone is able to make his or her needs, wants, and desires known. However, we must realize that every human being does not communicate in the same way. When there is a barrier of any kind, we must recognize their way of speaking and respect their right to do so.  We must also realize that to communicate, we must first listen….listen to the speech of the other person, even if it’s sign language or other gestural languages.  We have to remember that their speech is the outlet to the world and an inlet to their innermost beings.  We owe it to them to acknowledge that their  Speech IS Divine.

      Did you know?.....

Stuttering appears to frequently run in families.  There is also evidence that stuttering may be closely associated with some neurological deficits. Quite often, psychological components may make symptoms appear worse or even better in some cases.

      Articulation Difficulties
R,S, and L sounds are  commonly mispronounced by most children between the ages of 2-5.  These sounds are some the hardest to produce in our  English language.
